Shaka Ponk Ends 20-Year Career with Electrifying Farewell at Accor Arena

Rock Band Bows Out to Honor Environmental Convictions

(News Stay) – Paris, France — After two decades of electrifying performances, the French alternative rock band Shaka Ponk took their final bow on November 30, 2024, at the Accor Arena in Paris. The farewell show marked the end of their “The Final F*cked Up Tour”, a 60-date journey that drew 1.5 million fans and left an indelible mark on the music world.

A Farewell with Purpose

The decision to disband was not just about retiring but also staying true to their values. Shaka Ponk cited environmental and social responsibility as their motivation for stepping away. “Extinction of the species,” they declared when announcing their farewell tour. Lead vocalist Frah emphasized the group’s frustration with societal and environmental destruction, pledging to continue their advocacy even as they leave the stage.

“We’re hurt, we’re frustrated by those in power who destroy the planet and undermine our freedoms,” Frah said. “Our mission isn’t over—it’s just evolving.”

A Night to Remember

The final show was a mix of high-energy performances and poignant messages. The setlist included fan favorites like “I’m Picky” in acoustic form and a stunning rendition of “The House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. For nearly three hours, the band delivered a 360° experience complete with immersive staging, including couches, oversized books, and an urban gospel choir.

Highlights of the evening:

  • Astrophysicist Aurélien Barrau joined the stage to read his powerful piece “J’aime pas les gens”, addressing societal and environmental issues.
  • The band invited fans to support the release of detained ocean activist Paul Watson by scanning a QR code for the #FREEPAULWATSON petition.

Activism and Legacy

Shaka Ponk’s farewell was not just a performance—it was a call to action. Frah urged the audience to boycott major corporations contributing to environmental degradation, naming brands like Coca-Cola, Nestlé, and H&M. “Boycotting is how we create real change,” he proclaimed, reinforcing their eco-conscious stance.

Despite the band’s dissolution, their legacy is secure. With seven albums, countless unforgettable shows, and a devoted fan base, they leave behind a blueprint for merging art with activism.
